About us

Sustainable India Trust (SIT) was born out of the need to bring together interdisciplinary scientific expertise for evidence-based national policies and international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals. Our unique contribution has been to highlight the role of sustainable nutrient management and elemental cycles such as nitrogen, phosphorus etc. They span several UN-SDGs, but are rarely recognized or managed that way. The India-led UN resolution on 'Sustainable nitrogen management' (UNEA 4, March 2019) and accreditation to the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of UNEP have been important milestones in our short journey since 2014.
